About the department

The Department of Civil Engineering at Shatt Al-Arab University College began opening its doors to enroll students in the academic year (2022-2023) as part of a well-studied academic plan to move towards engineering disciplines in order to meet the labor market need in Iraq for qualified engineers who are able to keep pace with the development in various fields of engineering.

The department is interested in teaching everything related to civil engineering, such as: structural design of buildings, design and implementation of bridges, tunnels, and residential complexes, road works, water and sewage purification plants, dams and regulators, irrigation and drainage works, and others.

The vision of the Civil Engineering Department is based on striving to achieve scientific sobriety to ensure leadership, excellence and academic reputation. The department seeks to achieve this vision through thoughtful planning aimed at upgrading and continuous development in the level of scientific curricula, which is based on a solid academic program that takes into account the national and international standards adopted in the field of civil engineering.

The department's mission is based on preparing a distinguished engineering cadre capable of competing in the labor market with high professionalism and supported by skills, knowledge and professional ethics and employing them to achieve the requirements of society in development and development.

 

 The objectives of the department and the results to be achieved

  1. Create an appropriate academic climate to develop students' skills to prepare a qualified engineering cadre who possesses comprehensive knowledge in the basics of civil engineering.
  2. The need to link engineering information with laboratory and on-site observations to ensure the achievement of the desired outputs for the students of the department.
  3. Adopting national and international quality standards to measure the performance of the teaching staff in order to improve the scientific and cognitive competence of teachers.
  4. Instilling professional ethics in the hearts of graduates and immunizing them against deviation and fraud at work and its requirements.
  5. Cooperating with Iraqi and international scientific institutions, exchanging experiences, and encouraging joint work in the field of scientific research.
  6. Supporting the initiatives of the faculty and researchers in the department to provide studies that serve the community and the various state departments.
